Scarr Bottom
Scarr Bottom is an area in Halifax situated below Wainhouse Tower. In this area, Wainhouse took to displaying his architectural flair again by building this row of cottages. Each cottage has ornate gothic porches and have been fitted out with various mottoes.

A typical trait of Wainhouse was to make each property slightly different to the next. One has to look carefully to see differences in the stonework adorning each cottage. Typically, these are the windows in the porches and the emblems carved into the stone gateposts of each adjacent cottage garden.
Wainhouse's original Halifax home (Sapling Grove) still stands adjacent to this row of unique cottages.
